Google’s new workplace in Mountain View takes cues from Northern California’s landscapes, using a trail metaphor to guide movement through coastal, grove, hillside, and Sierra-inspired zones. A light-filled central stair, crowned by a sculptural tree, anchors the building, with each floor reflecting a unique biome through textures, colors, and materials.
Workspaces balance residential-scale comfort with functionality. Collaborative zones encircle the central stair, while cozy duck-ins and inward-facing “nesks” provide tailored environments for group or focused work. Custom furniture, biophilic elements, and subtle nods to Google’s brand—including a hidden room and vibrant color accents—infuse the space with curiosity and delight.
